Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host

Radio host Ira Glass of This American Life and choreographer Monica Bill Barnes thought their work shared a sensibility even though hers includes no talking and his involves no physical movement whatsoever. They invented a show that combines two art forms that — as Glass puts it — “have no business being together” — dance and radio. The performance includes radio interviews restaged as dance pieces, plus stories from the lives of each of the performers, Ira Glass, Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass. The result is a funny, lively, and surprisingly emotional evening of dance and stories that brought down the house during its first test run at Carnegie Hall.
