CURRENT TOURING PROJECTS

Laurie AndersonOne of the seminal artists of our time, Laurie Anderson's genre-crossing work encompasses performance, film, music, installation, writing, photography, and sculpture.

"Laurie Anderson is a singer-songwriter of crushing poignancy-- a minimalist painter of melancholy moods who addresses universal themes in the vernacular of the commonplace."
- Rolling Stone

HOMELAND
Conceived as one long piece of music, Homeland moves through many worlds -- from Greek tragedy to American business models. The stories and songs that make up Homeland are marked by a political urgency. They address the current climate of fear, obsession with information and security. They are also -- as with all of Anderson's work -- personal and utterly unique.

BURNING LEAVES: A RETROSPECTIVE OF SONG AND STORIES 2009
This collection of songs and stories includes pieces from Anderson’s acclaimed solo shows The Speed of Darkness, Happiness, The End of the Moon and Homeland.

In an intimate evening of voice, electronics and violin, Anderson spins offbeat adventure stories with her characteristic wit and poignancy. The evening also features her solo violin pieces which have become increasingly complex and symphonic.

"This is a great chance for me to put together a couple of decades of my favorite stories and songs. It’s wild to see them next to each other. They tell a whole different story."

LAURIE ANDERSON A New Work
In her new work, which will debut at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Anderson explores sound and stories in a series of short plays. Using her inventions in vocal processing, signature violin pieces and lush sonic landscapes, Anderson creates and inhabits imaginary worlds that become mental movies. Conceived as a ninety-minute tecnhnodrama, the new work combines technology, mystery and contemporary short stories in a unique new art form.

'A New Work' by Laurie Anderson was commissioned by  VANCOUVER ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE 2010 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES (VANOC), Vancouver, THE BARBICAN CENTRE, London.

With Additional support from Cal Performances, UC Berkeley; and Stanford Lively Arts, Stanford University.
